Engineering Graduates on the Rise: Start ups eager to hire 2018 batch

Good news to cheer for the engineering graduates, as start ups are in full swing to hire the fresh batch of graduates in their firms. Indian Institute of Technology along with other engineering colleges will soon see the onset of the giant e-commerce and start up firms flowing in their campus to hire the engineers.

Placement Packages offered

With no less than a package of 9-10 lakhs shall be expected by start up firms. Roles in the domain of data analyst, AI engineer, user-experience engineer, mobile software developer and augmented reality engineer will be the most sought after ones.

List of Start Up firms keen on hiring

Firms such as Paytm, Exotel, Pepperfry, Voonik, Go-Jek and Razorpay are keen on hiring the engineers in their firms to set the sails for the future of the business.

Paytm is going to initiate an internship programme at five engineering campuses this year. As per the programme the Paytm will give interns live projects to handle. This will encompass them to work in the company and they and will be mentored by senior colleagues. The ones who will successfully complete the internship will be offered the PPO to join Paytm on full time basis. As per the reports by Manav Jain, associate vice-president of the Noida-based company, they have already made 25-30 offers across the National Institutes of Technology and other regional engineering colleges. Paytm is keener on hiring software development, machine learning and data science professionals.

At Razorpay, 30-odd students will be hired to fill the requirement of big data, artificial intelligence and mobile software development along with few roles in the front-end and back-end development. The start up firm will offer around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh in the placement package.

Whereas Exotel is willing to hire approximately 10 graduates to fill roles on the position of software engineer and site reliability engineering. The company spokesperson mentioned that “Those with the capability to take complete ownership — from writing and monitoring code to deploying it into production systems — will be preferred,”

E-commerce furniture specialized start up firm Pepperfry is in need of techies who can work on bolstering augmented and virtual reality offerings. They will also be hiring freshers to work in core Java, machine learning and big data.

Another brand in the online digital space, Voonik that hails from the fashion domain will look out for 25 posts in software development, DevOps and data analysis. In addition the company has also opened a position for business analyst, meant for engineers who are good with numbers. Voonik plans to remunerate the freshers with no less than salaries starting at Rs 9 lakh and going up to Rs 16 lakh.

While these were famous e-commerce start up firms that are in the pressing need of hiring engineers, firms such as Go-Jek (i.e. the Indonesian hyperlocal transport, logistics and payments startup) are also on the hunt for 30 techies for its India development centre. But before you make it to the final round of hiring, the company has plans to put freshers through a two-month boot camp on coding, DevOps, design and user experience, followed by 10 months of rigorous mentoring by senior developers.

With the boom in the digital space, companies are looking forward to talented pool of engineers that will raise their bar from the existing lot of numerous service providers.
