JEE Main Examination is one of the popular engineering entrance examinations in India. It is conducted by CBSE every year for admission to engineering courses. JEE Main Examination 2018 will be conducted in the month of April, 2018. The paper will consist of 90 questions divided in three sections i.e. **Physics**, **Chemistry** and **Mathematics**. Each section will consist 30 questions. In this article we are going to talk about important topics which you must revise before appearing JEE Main Examination. While choosing the topics of Mathematics section of JEE Main for preparation you should ensure that all the pre-requisites are met for each topic completely. So, you should do those topics first which is least co related. Also, when you pick any unit do all the chapters of that unit before moving to the next unit.

**JEE Main Syllabus: 2017 - 2018**

Here are some important topics which must be done properly before appearing JEE Main Examination 2018.

**1. Trigonometry**

In this section, formulae are very important. So, whenever you are practicing questions from this unit or going through this unit, make proper revision notes. In JEE Main Examination very few questions are asked directly. So, you can expect only few questions from pure trigonometry. Mostly the questions asked in JEE Main Examination involve standard trigonometric identities. The key success to this unit is memorizing standard formulae. So on the day of examination, in the morning, you must not forget to revise trigonometric formulae. Also, while attempting JEE Main Paper make sure that you are done with this unit to avoid last minute anxiety.

**2. Co-ordinate Geometry**

Students get familiar with this topic in Class 10 because the basic concepts of the slope, equation of a line, etc. are taught at that time. In addition to straight line questions are asked from other curves such as circle, ellipse and hyperbola. To get score good mark in this section you need to solve plenty of questions.

**3. Algebra**

This section is bit hard and calculative. In this section most of the students struggle with the chapters Permutation & Combination, Probability and Complex numbers. However, practice is the key to do good in this section. Also, the questions from complex numbers greatly depend on coordinate geometry portion. So, you should do coordinate geometry before Algebra. Questions from complex numbers can be solved easily if you correlate them with coordinate geometry.

**4. Calculus**

Calculus is divided into two parts- Differential Calculus and Integral Calculus.

Differential calculus includes:

(a) Functions

(b) Limit

(c) Continuity

(d) Differentiability

(e) Application Derivative

Integral Calculus includes:

(a) Indefinite integration

(b) Definite integration

(c) Area under curves

(d) Differential Equations

Before going to integral calculus, clear your concepts of differential calculus. Calculus is the most important part of Mathematics section of JEE Main Paper. It covers around 40% of the total questions. In Indefinite integration, learn the standard formulae by heart. Also, go through the properties in definite integration very carefully. Get well-versed with every standard formula and technique used in calculus.

**5. Vectors and 3D**

Once you are done with co-ordinate geometry you can attempt questions from Vectors and 3D.** **The questions asked from this unit are not tricky and most of the times it only requires standard formulae to solve them.

The best way to score good marks in Mathematics Paper of JEE Main Examination is to practice more and solve plenty of questions. During examination, you should attempt those questions first which boosts your confidence level.
