Narsingh Yadav gets NADA's clean chit; may participate in Rio Olympics

Narsingh Yadav Narsingh Yadav, the Olympic bound wrestler who earlier failed the dope test, on 1 August 2016 was given clean chit by National Anti Doping Agency (NADA). With this, he can participate in Rio Olympics beginning on 5 August 2016.

The NADA disciplinary panel has exonerated Yadav from charges of violating anti doping rules of NADA.

Findings that helped in tilting NADA’s decision

• It found that the wrestler is a victim of sabotage done by a competitor, thus there is no fault and negligence on Narsingh Yadav's part.

• The panel is of the opinion that one time ingestion by Yadav was not within his knowledge neither was intentional.

• It said that the athlete deserves the benefit of article 10.4 of the NADA’s anti-doping code.

Earlier, Narsingh was tested positive for methandienone, a banned anabolic steroid, after he cried foul claiming the entire episode was a conspiracy against him.

After more than a week of drama which began with Narsingh testing positive for a banned methandienone in tests conducted on 25 June 2016, NADA panel concluded that the athlete deserves the benefit its anti-doping code.

The Wrestling Federation of India said the process to get Narsingh back in the Olympic squad has been set in motion.

Narsingh had been replaced by Parveen Rana when the scandal broke out to save India's quota place in the 74kg category.
