  • Electrostatic potential and capacitance (part 1)

Coulomb force between two (stationary) charges, like the gravitational force, is also a conservative force. This is not surprising, since both have inverse-square dependence on distance and differ mainly in the proportionality constants – the masses in the gravitational law are replaced by charges in Coulomb’s law. Thus, like the potential energy of a mass in a gravitational field, we can define electrostatic potential energy of a charge in an electrostatic field.Coulomb force between two (stationary) charges, like the gravitational force, is also a conservative force. • Reproduction in Organisms (part 1)

There is a need for a medium through which the male gametes move. In several simple plants like algae, bryophytes and pteridophytes, water is the medium through which this gamete transfer takes place. A large number of the male gametes, however, fail to reach the female gametes. To compensate this loss of male gametes during transport, the number of male gametes produced is several thousand times the number of female gametes produced.

  • Reproduction in Organisms(part 2)

There is a large diversity in the biological world and each organism has evolved its own mechanism to multiply and produce offspring. The organism’s habitat, its internal physiology and several other factors are collectively responsible for how it reproduces. Based on whether there is participation of one organism or two in the process of reproduction, it is of two types. When offspring is produced by a single parent with or without the involvement of gamete formation, the reproduction is asexual. When two parents (opposite sex) participate in the reproductive process and also involve fusion of male and female gametes, it is called sexual reproduction.

  • The Solid State (part 1)

In this Unit, we shall discuss different possible arrangements of particles resulting in several types of structures. The correlation between the nature of interactions within the constituent particles and several properties of solids will also be explored. How these properties get modified due to the structural imperfections or by the presence of impurities in minute amounts would also be discussed.

  • Electric charges and fields(part 2)

This came to know that it is important to have a clear cut atomic picture about matter. We know that the basic unit of all matter is an 'atom'. The small central core part called nucleus which accounts to most of its mass consisting of positively charged protons and neutral neutrons and the lighter negatively charged electrons revolves around the nucleus.

  • Electric charges and fields(part 1)

Have you ever thought that why a spark or a crackle is produced when we take off our synthetic clothes or sweater, particularly in dry weather?Lightning that we see in the sky during thunderstorms is same type of phenomenaHave you ever tried to find any explanation for this phenomenon? The reason for these experiences is discharge of electric charges through our body, which were accumulated due to rubbing of insulating surfaces. In this video you will find answer of this entire phenomenon.
