CBSE Class 10 Maths Exam 2019: Paper Analysis, Review and Students' Reaction - Watch Video
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the Class 10th Maths paper on 7th March, 2019. This was the first major paper for class 10 students under CBSE Board Exams 2019. Over 16.38 lakh students appeared for the CBSE’s Class 10 Mathematics Board Exam 2019. It was the first major paper for class 10 students under ongoing CBSE Board Exams 2019. Most of the students were nervous and anxious before the exam. However their reactions after taking the exam were more relaxed and happy. - The question paper consisted of 30 questions divided into four sections A, B, C and D.
- Section A contained 6 questions of 1 mark each.
- Section B contained 6 questions of 2 markseach.
- Section C contained 10 questions of 3 marks each.
- Section D contained 8 questions of 4marks each.
- There was no overall choice. There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice was provided in two questions of 1 mark each, two questions of 2 marks each, four questions of 3 marks each and three questions of 4 marks each. Students had to attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.
- Total time allowed: 3 Hours
- Maximum Marks: 80
CBSE Class 10 Maths Paper 2019: Students' reaction after the exam
Difficulty level of question paper: Paper was very easy
Toughest section: Majority of students said ‘Section D’ was a bit difficult
Most time-consuming section: Section D
Questions repeated from previous year papers: Many questions were almost similar to those asked in previous years
Questions From NCERT Book: All the questions were picked from NCERT book
All the questions in the paper were from the latest CBSE 10th Maths syllabus
Average range of expected marks (out of 80): Most of the students are expecting 60 to 70 Marks
So, in all students were extremely happy after taking the Maths exam and said that this year the Class 10 Maths paper was easier than the previous year. They didn't find any problem in completing the paper within 3 hours time duration.
Experts analysed the CBSE Class 10 Maths Paper 2019 and concluded that the Trigonometric portion in paper was a little difficult and could be time consuming for students. However, they observed disparity in different sets of paper and claimed the Set-2 to be somewhat difficult as compared to other two sets in Class 10 Maths Paper. However, paper was easier than the previous year and was framed for the average students. Overall, it was a good start for Class 10 students in the series of major papers being conducted under the CBSE Class 10 Board Examination 2019.

This year CBSE has introduced a few important changes in the CBSE Class 10 Examination 2019 for the benefit of students. These changes are as follows:
(i) Relaxation in passing criteria: Overall 33% marks enough to pass a subject
CBSE has extended the passing criteria relaxation for the Class 10 examination, according to which candidates appearing for Class 10 examination in 2019 onwards will have to secure overall 33 percent marks (internal and external included) in the subjects to be eligible to pass that subject.
(ii) Internal Choices increased by 33% in CBSE Class 10 Exams
From the upcoming board exams, there will be an increase in total number of internal choices provided in the CBSE Class 10 Social Science board question paper. An increase in the internal choice of approximately 33 percent in all the sections and for each type of question will be employed.
According to the CBSE 10th Date Sheet 2019, the next important exam for Class 10 students will be of Science which will be conducted on 13 March, 2019 (Wednesday). So, after the Maths exam, students have a big gap to make good preparations for the CBSE Science Exam 2019.
