What is eLitmus?

The eLitmus proprietary pH Test, also known as the ‘Hiring Potential’ test, helps evaluate job-seekers on an array of parameters and grades them on a nation-wide level, using an advanced statistical model to arrive at their pH score. What is pH test?

The pH test, also known as the eLitmus ‘hiring potential’ test, is a national level employability test that evaluates fresh jobseekers on their skills. The pH score is in the percentile format and helps jobseekers to evaluate and understand where they stand as compared to the national talent pool. The score also allows job seekers to apply for jobs at the participating companies and recruiters. The pH score is valid for 2 years during which a candidate can apply for jobs with participating recruiters.

eLitmus – Eligibility criteria

There are no defined eligibility criteria for eLitmus employability test. However, as of now, eLitmus pH test is only beneficial to young engineering graduates who are looking for entry-level to mid-level jobs. Therefore, candidates who have completed their BE/B.Tech, MCA, ME/M.Tech or M.Sc(CS/IT) should certainly take the eLitmus pH test.

Being an employability test, there is no fixed schedule available for the eLitmus pH test. eLitmus – Number of Attempts

There is no restriction on the number of times you can take the eLitmus pH test. Similarly, there is no mandatory gap period that a candidate has to maintain between two attempts. This means that candidates can take the eLitmus pH test as many times as they want by paying the necessary fees. As far as the pH score is concerned, companies generally use the best score of a candidate for hiring purposes.

eLitmus – Exam format

eLitmus exam is conducted in the offline format i.e. it is a pen-paper based test that is conducted over a period of two hours. The test is divided into three sections i.e. Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal English and Logical and Analytical Reasoning. Each of the sections consists of 20 questions. As far as syllabus is concerned, there is no defined syllabus available for any of the sections of the eLitmus pH test. However, the difficulty level of all three sections is around the same as that followed in the CAT MBA entrance exam.

eLitmus – Marking Scheme

The marking scheme for eLitmus is unique as it follows a different negative marking scheme as compared to the other employability tests. As far as marking scheme is concerned, candidates must keep in mind that

  • Total number of questions: 60
  • Total marks for the test: 600
  • Maximum marks per question: 10
  • No negative marking, if the total number of incorrect questions is less than or equal to 25% of the total number of questions
  • 5 marks to be deducted out of 10 marks for every wrong answer after 25% incorrect answers
  • No negative marks for unattempted questions

eLitmus – pH Test score

After appearing for the pH test, the eLitmus test score is generally announced within a week or two weeks. The test score is in the percentile format and denotes your standing in the national talent pool. For instance, if you scored 80 percentile as pH score, it implies that you are better than 80% of the candidates who took up the test.
