Tell us about yourself

Through this question, your interviewer intends to know somewhat that is apart from your professional life. It might become hard and tough for you to answers it if you haven’t already thought, frame, and structure what can be the best one. What, you think, were your great achievements in your last organisation?

It may be success of a projects, assignments, and tasks you were assigned in your last organisation. To highlight your skills, explain how you executed projects, completed assignments, and accomplished tasks in your last organisation, citing the outcome.

What were your responsibilities in last organisation?

Before replying to this question, go to your resume and look what responsibilities you held in your last organisation. There-after, frame, structure, and communicate it in best possible way to your interviewer.

What, you think, was the most difficult period in your professional life?

It may be time of recession in the industry where you cater your service. It may be unemployment that most of professionals face in their professional life. There is no doubt if you have confronted challenges, problems, or difficulties in any other forms. But, before beginning to explain, think what you did to overcome the same and how did you withstand the problem you faced in the past. Try to highlight your strength, explaining your skills, potential, and devotion.

Why did you leave your last organisation?

Don’t think to criticise the management, administration, seniors, superiors, co-workers, and work culture of your last organisation, even if anyone of these was the reason behind quitting the job. It’ll reflect your negative approach. You were in your last organisation to cater your services as per job responsibilities. It’s not your concern to bring certain changes in all of these if it doesn’t fall in your responsibilities. So, avoid criticising and cite your own professional goals, explaining how quitting last organisation was important for your own professional goal.

Do you deserve to work in the organisation or on the position you have applied for?

This question is actually an opportunity for you. So, take advantage of it. Go to resume and check your educational and professional qualification, work experience, skills, expertise, and other. Get it back to your interviewer, highlighting the accomplished projects, completed tasks and achieved daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual goals. 

How was your relation with your previous boss, has he ever criticized you?

It’s too bad to be too good. So, try not to over explain your answers, especially when your previous boss disliked you. Keep your answers simple and realistic. Apart from this, don’t think to explain your personal relation with him or her if it was not. And explain what is coming in a professional relation.

Apart from here, which, else, companies you has applied for job?

This question is posed only to check whether you’re specifically, interested in the organisation or have applied for the job just for the sake of livelihood. And through your answers, the interviewer will determine how beneficial your hiring is for the organisation.  So, weigh out what have you thought, framed, and structured to reply this question before conveying it to interviewer.

What is your weakness?

Be honest while replying to this question. Never say that you’re perfect. Mention what actually, your weakness is. And tell your interviewer how you’re trying to overcome the same. Suppose, you lie and say that you’re perfect. In this situation, what is likely to happen is your weakness will spontaneously be surfaced if the outcome of an assignment, project, or tasks is affected due to your weakness. Lying about yourself and concealing your weakness is therefore has no worth. So, tell the truth as well as how you’re trying to overcome it.   

What goals you’re eyeing to achieve in future?

Don’t show your highhandedness and highlight what is realistic and beneficial for your career as well as for the organisation. Before communicating what, you think, is your prime goal you’re eyeing to, be specific and frame and structure your answers in best possible way. As professional, focus only on those which fall under the growth of your professional life. Because, the interviewer, in first meeting, isn’t keen to know what problems and challenges you’re facing in your personal life and what is your future plan to tackle all of them.
