Key features of UP Board class 12th English Paper First:
Students were provided with a total of 3 hours 15 minutes for the exam out of which 15 minutes were for reading instructions and cross-checking the question paper before writing answers.
- There were a total of 12 question in the test paper and total marks were 50
- The questions were of multiple choices, very short answers type, short answers type and very long answers type
- There was only one question for essay writing i.e. Question no. 12.
- The marks for each question were mentioned before them. The minimum marks were 1 and maximum marks were 6
- For some question, two options/choices were provided and students were required to select and write answer

Marking scheme for UP Board class 12th English Paper First :
Question no. 1: The question was based on reading and comprehension and students were required to read the passage and answer the following asked questions from the passage only. Four marks were allotted for this question.
Question no. 2: In this question as well students were required to read a passage and answer the relevant asked questions. There were two options for this question for a total of 4 marks and students were required to write an answer for only one option.
Question no. 3: In question no 3, student were provided three options and they have to write answers for any 2. There was word limit of 30 words for each question and the marks allotted for the question were 4.
Question no. 4: This question was allotted 5 marks and was divided into two parts. Students were required to write answer in 150 words only.
Question no. 5: The marks allotted for this question were 3 and students were required to fill the blanks after choosing correct answer from the options provided with the question.
Question no. 6: This was a 5 marks question and students were required to write answer in 150 words.
Question No. 7: This was a two parts question and students had to write answers in 30 words.
Question No. 8: This too was a five marks question and the word limit for the answer was 150.
Question No. 9: The question carried 2 marks and word limit for the answers was 30 words.
Question No 10: This question was allotted a total of 8 marks. It had 3 options and students were required to write answer for only 2 questions.
Question No. 11: In question no 11 was based on poems and students were provided 3 options. They could select one poem to answer. They were required answer in their own language and 4 marks were allotted for this question.
Question No. 12: The last question of UP Board class 12th English paper I was based on essay and the marks allotted for this question were 4 marks. The question was divided in to 2 parts i.e. 12 (a) and 12 (b). For 12 (a), three options were provided and for 12 (b) students were required to answer with a title and examples.
READING COMPREHENSION : The first two unseen passages had some tricky questions which required through reading. The vocabulary questions were quite easy.
WRITING SKILLS : The letter writing was straight to the point and sufficient inputs made the writing task easy
LITERATURE : Question ask in literature portion was of moderate level.
