IAS Syllabus: Expectations

The biggest expectation from the UPSC IAS Notification is the number of vacancies notified. The IAS aspirants always expect the larger number of vacancies in the notification especially for the number of post for the IAS, IPS, and IFS. But the number of vacancies for the post of IAS is limited to 180 positions each year. Rest of the numbers varies each year.

Since the commencement of Indian Civil Services Examination, the Syllabus mostly has remained constant till 2013 where a huge shift was seen in the IAS Mains Syllabus and one optional paper was completely scraped from the syllabus.

The optional paper has been an apple of discord between the students from technical and non- technical background. On the same lines, this year also a murmur was created that there will be no optional paper in the IAS Exam.

Some IAS Syllabus pointers that are expected to remain unchanged are as follows:

• IAS Prelims General Studies Paper 1 Syllabus
• IAS Mains Compulsory and qualifying language paper
   • Paper-A - One of the Indian Language to be selected by the candidate from the Languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the Constitution.
   • Paper-B – English
• IAS Mains General studies Syllabus paper
• Essay Paper

But nothing much is expected to be changed in the is year UPSC Notification.
