XLRI Placement 2018, average salary rises to Rs 20.1 Lakhs

XLRI Placement 2018 has been successfully completed by the B-school, securing hefty and handsome salary packages for the students. Xavier Labour Relations Institute has continued the general trend of registering significant hike in the average salary package and median salary packages being offered to the management graduates. The XLRI final placement 2018 for the two-year flagship post-graduate diploma programme saw participation of 132 recruiters from different sectors.

Decoding XLRI Placement 2018

100% Placement Record Intact

Keeping their legacy alive, XLRI has secured 100% placement for the outgoing batch of management graduates in the 2018 placement session. The placement programme was conducted for both Postgraduate Diploma in Management – HRM and BM students. Commenting upon the successful completion of the Placement 2018 session, XLRI director said “We attribute the excellent placements this year as an affirmation by the industry of the high-standard of management-centric education that we strive to deliver to our students”

On a similar note, Prof. Uday Damodaran, Chairperson, Placements (2 yrs. PGDM Programs), XLRI- Xavier School of Management said, “This has been a good year for both of summer as well as final recruitments. We are extremely grateful to all the recruiters for showing belief in the XLRI brand and our students.”

Statistical Analysis

A total of 354 students participated in the XLRI 2018 Placement session. As far as recruiters are concerned, a total of 132 recruiters participated in the placement programme, extending 370 offers in the span of 3.5 days. Of the 132 recruiters, 29 recruiters were hiring management graduates for the first time from the B-school. The rising number of recruiters at XLRI Placement 2018 clearly exhibits that the trust placed by the industry leaders in the management education imparted by the MBA institute. As far as salary packages are concerned, XLRI Placement 2018 session recorded an average salary of Rs.20.1 lakhs and median salary of Rs.21 lakhs.

Median Salary more than Average Salary

Another interesting trend which has been witnessed in the current placement season at XLRI is the steep growth in the median salary being offered to the students, as compared to the average salary. This trend has been analysed in detail in the below-given table:

As showcased in the above-table, there has been continuous and significant hike in the average and median salary. This is a very positive sign as the B-school has managed to over-ride the macro-economic factors which led a slowdown in the general hiring in the job market.

Rising Number of PPOs

Similar to the average and median salary, the no of PPOs or Pre-Placement Offers also saw a jump in numbers during the XLRI Placement 2018. The general trend of rising PPOs at XLRI Placement sessions is showcased in the table below:

 The significant rise in the number of PPOs offered to XLRI students indicates that management graduates walking out of the B-school are proving their talent and worth in the job market. It also speaks volumes about the quality of management education being offered at XLRI.

PSU Participation

Another interesting aspect to note in the XLRI 2018 Placement report is the participation of Public Sector Units. PSUs such as GAIL, IOCL and HPCL, who have been regular recruiters at XLRI, returned to the campus to hire fresh talent for their organizations. On the other hand, there were a few first-time PSU recruiters who participated in the placement process. These include National Housing Bank and India Health Action Trust.

Top Recruiters

As stated above, a total of 132 recruiters participated in the XLRI Placement 2018. Of this 29 recruiters were visiting XLRI campus for the first time to hire management graduates. When it comes to top recruiters, consulting major Boston Consulting emerged at the top, followed by others such as Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, EY, PwC and P&G. Other top brands which hired students during the placement session include Shell, P&G, General Electric, Mondelez, Nestle, Aditya Birla Group, RP Goenka group, TAS, HPCL, Capgemini, JP Morgan, ITC India, DBS, Citibank, Samsung, Amazon, HUL, RB, Colgate Pamolive, IOCL, Avendus Capital, Johnson & Johnson, Heinz, Bharti Airtel, GAIL and AB InBev.

Sector-wise Placement Breakup

Human Resource is the domain for which XLRI is known in the MBA job market and this was again reiterated in the final placement 2018. Management graduates with specialization in HR secured excellent offers from Consulting, FMCG, General Management and other sectors, that too in large numbers.
