CAT 2018 Registration deadline has been extended to 26th September. The announcement regarding the extension of registration process for IIM CAT 2018 Exam was done by exam conducting body i.e. IIM Calcutta. Earlier, the CAT 2018 registration process began on 8th August and was scheduled to be completed on 19th September. However, keeping in mind several requests made my MBA aspirants, the Indian Institute of Managements have extended the CAT 2018 application deadline by a week. Candidates must note that while the registration process for IIM CAT 2018 has been extended all the other aspects and dates regarding the MBA entrance exam remain the same. The detailed process regarding the CAT 2018 online registration is given below.
So here are a few instructions that you must read to avoid any mistakes while registering:
About CAT Online Registration
IIM Calcutta has connected CAT 2018 registrations and interested aspirants can register for the CAT Exam through online mode only. CAT registrations form is a single document divided in 5 pages. Applicants are required to provide their personal details in the 1st part of CAT registration form. The 2nd part is all about academic information, so keep your documents ready to fill the marks scored in the 10th, 12th and graduation. The 3rd part talks about work experience and finally aspirants are required to choose programmes and IIMs in the order of their preference.
Registration Guide for CAT 2018
The CAT website i.e. iimcat.ac.in is made available for the purpose of registration and the conducting body also release registration guide and video to help the aspirants in smooth registration process. Before you register for the exam, it is recommended that ‘do watch the video and read the registration guide’ which talks about the forms that you would need for registering online. After watching the video, you will feel comfortable while registering for CAT 2018. Any discrepancy can cost you re-registration and payment of fee again. This process might seem time taking but would help you avoid blunders during registration.
How to Register for CAT 2018
Aspirants can follow these easy steps to register for CAT 2018 exam:
- Visit the official website of IIM CAT i.e. https://iimcat.ac.in/per/g01/pub/756/ASM/WebPortal/1/index.html?756@@1@@1
- Click on the ‘Register’ option under ‘New candidate Registration’ option which is provided on the right side of the homepage.
- Candidates will be redirected to another window.
- Provide basic details to generate User ID and Password
- Create a Profile
- Submit Application after entering all the necessary details and make online payment through Net banking/Credit card/Debit card.
CAT Exam: Application fees
Another crucial aspect is the registration fee. The CAT registration fee has been increased from the previous year. IIM Calcutta has kept the application fee:
General / NC-OBC
SC/ST /PWD (DA)
Last year IIM Lucknow made it mandatory to pay an application fee to Rs. 1800/- from the previous year CAT registration fee of Rs. 1700/-. For the other reserved category aspirants the application fee for CAT exams was Rs. 900/- only.
Perks for Women Candidates
As per the recent guidelines, female candidates will get an opportunity to take the test in their domicile city. This move is aimed at encouraging the female candidates take the test eagerly and would also invite more participation from both the genders without a bias.
This perk is also aimed at enhancing the gender diversity in the IIMs. It is expected that after this announcement the absentee ratio among the female candidates to take the exam will gradually reduce. When the first time this initiative commenced in 2015, it became a hit and an increase in the attendance of females was quite evident.
For other candidates, CAT will provide an opportunity to choose upto 4 test centers depending upon the convenience of the candidate. The final decision to allot the test center is reserved with the exam conducting body i.e. IIM Calcutta.
Rectification of errors in CAT Registration form
Caution! Once you press the ‘SUBMIT button’ after filling all the details, you will not be able to make any changes in the CAT application form. Rectification of errors is not welcomed so it is advisable that you double check the filled in information or else you might end up re-registering and paying application fee of Rs. 1800/- again. Do not submit your CAT registration form unless you are sure of all the details put in the form.
