The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the subject wise maximum and minimum marks for Class 10th and Class 12th theory and practical exams. The board has issued a list of subjects having practical/project/ internal assessment components for class 10th and 12th Board Examinations to be held in 2020. Main details provided in the list are as follows:
- List of subjects along with breakup of Theory and practical/project/ internal assessment marks
- Subject-wise maximum marks and minimum passing marks for theory component
- Subject-wise maximum marks and minimum passing marks for practical/project/ internal assessment components
- Duration of the examination/assessment
Pass Criteria for CBSE Class 12
As per the guidelines released by the board for class 12, for the subjects involving practical/project work, students need to obtain 33% marks separately in the theory paper and 33% marks in the practical/project/ internal assessment component to pass the examination.
Pass Criteria for CBSE Class 10
In Class 10, students have to secure overall 33% marks (both theory and practical/internal assessment taken together) in order to pass the examination.
The practical exam, project work and the internal assessment will be conducted by the school with the help of an external examiner. The external examiner will be appointed by the board.
CBSE Practical Exams From 1st January 2020
CBSE has already announced the dates to conduct the practical examinations and project/internal assessment for class 10th and class 12th between 1st January, 2020 to 7th February, 2020. Practical exam will be conducted by the external examiners appointed by CBSE in presence of a school examiner. Board will also appoint an observer to supervise the conduct of practical examinations and project assessment.
No External Examiner by CBSE for NCC Exam
For the NCC subject, the practical examination in Class 12 will be conducted by the examiner appointed by the Directorate of NCC whereas in case of Class 10, as there is internal assessment so, no external examiner will be appointed for the exam by CBSE or Directorate of NCC.

CBSE Board Exam for Class 10th, 12th To Begin From February 15, 2020
CBSE exams for Class 10 and Class 12 will begin from 15th February, 2020 with the papers of vocational subjects followed by main subjects.
