The CLAT 2021 exam pattern has been released by the Consortium of NLUS (the conducting body of the CLAT 2021) exam. Candidates seeking to appear for the Common Law Admission Test must be aware of the changes made in the exam pattern of CLAT 2021. CLAT is conducted for admission to 21 National Law Universities in India. Besides the NLUs, 43 other education institutes and two public sector institutes also use CLAT scores as the required criteria for accepting students to undergraduate law courses. CLAT 2021 Exam Pattern - Overview

As per the CLAT 2021 exam pattern, the question paper will comprise 150 questions set according to Class 12 standard. The Quantitative Analysis section will, however, comprise Mathematics questions from the 10th standard. Other topics in CLAT 2021 will include Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Techniques, English language, Current affairs and General Knowledge. CLAT 2021 will be a comprehension-based exam and the questions from each of the topics will be set in the same manner.

CLAT PG 2021 – Exam Pattern

CLAT PG 2021 will comprise questions from

  • Constitutional Law
  • Other Law Subjects such as Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, IPR and Jurisprudence.

CLAT 2021 – Exam Duration

The national-level law exam for 5 years integrated program and LLB level courses would be held for 120 minutes, i.e., 2 hours, commencing at 2:00 pm. The offline question-response sheet of CLAT 2021 allotted to the candidates will be taken away at 5:00 pm.

The exam for postgraduate courses would also be held for 2 hours. Aspirants of postgraduate law programmes will be given 150 questions to attempt to qualify CLAT 2021.

CLAT 2021 – Examination Mode

While the application form is to be filled in online mode but the Common Law Admission Test will be held in the offline mode.

CLAT 2021 –Type & Number of Questions

The CLAT UG exam will comprise of 150 questions. The candidates will be asked multiple choice questions in the exam. For every question, 4 options will be made available. Since the exam will be conducted in the offline mode students will have to mark the correct answer in the OMR sheet. Candidates must ensure that they do not write anything on the question paper.

Each question of the CLAT 2021 exam carries 01 Mark. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer. 

The examination of CLAT PG 2021 will comprise 150 questions. The questions will be both objective and descriptive in nature. There will be 100 objective type questions and 2 essay questions of 25 marks each. 

CLAT 2021 – Marking Scheme

CLAT 2021 UG and PG exams will be for 150 marks each. According to the marking scheme of CLAT UG and PG 2021, the objective type questions in both the test will carry 1 mark each. There will also be a negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer.
