CMAT 2019: Exam analysis of Shift 1, Exam rescheduled in Srinagar

CMAT 2019 slot-1 exam is over and now it is time that candidates can check the CMAT exam analysis to find out the difficulty level of the exam. CMAT exam was successfully conducted in the country except at Srinagar (J&K). In J&K the exam has been rescheduled for January 29, 2019 due to road blockage which occurred as a result of heavy snowfall.

As per the reviews of the candidates the difficulty level of verbal ability section was tough where as the General Knowledge section was loaded with complicated questions. The Data Interpretation section was quite time consuming and the exam was moderately difficult. This year the CMAT exam cut-off for MBA admission 2019 is not expected to go high in top MBA colleges that accept CMAT exam score. Read on to find out all about the exam that was held on Jan 28:

About CMAT 2019 exam

  • It is for the first time that instead of AICTE, NTA was given the responsibility to conduct the CMAT exam.
  • For the first time, CMAT Exam was conducted in two slots in a single day.
  • Compared to the exams that were held in previous years, this year, VA, DI, GK were comparatively difficult.
  • CMAT 2019 exam had 100 objective questions which were to be answered in 180 minutes
  • Overall there were 4 sections and in each section there were 25 questions.
  • For each wrong answer, a penalty of -1 was set and for each correct answer +4 marks were awarded.

Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation Section

This section also comprised of 25 questions which were moderately difficult. Questions from topics of Arithmetic such as ratio, HCF-LCM, averages etc were asked in the exam. Questions from few topics of geometry were also asked in the exam.

Questions in the Data Interpretation section were not based on sets. One question in DI was on the pie chart in which candidates were required to calculate the market share & in the other question candidates were required to identify the topper of the class based on the table of subjects & students. In a nutshell, DI section was easy yet time consuming. Overall this section was coupled with moderately difficult questions.

Verbal Ability Section

In this section overall 25 questions were asked from 4 reading comprehensions and other verbal ability topics such as Antonyms, Odd one Out, Grammar based questions, Jumbled paragraphs. Out of 25 questions, 15 questions were from the RCs and other 10 questions from verbal ability topics. Reading comprehension passages were moderately difficult and overall this section was moderately difficult for the exam aspirants.

Logical Reasoning Section

The LR section also comprises of 25 questions like the previous two sections. This section had questions from topics such as family puzzles, strong argument & conclusion, distance & direction based, analogy, odd one out, find the same relation, and family relation. Overall this section was easy to moderately difficult.

General Awareness Section

Coming over to the last section, i.e. General awareness section which has 25 questions, questions from both current and static GK were asked in the exam. Questions in this section were little complicated for the candidates to understand in first go. This means that instead of asking direct questions, there were lot of indirect questions posed in the exam to test the aptitude of the aspirants. Overall, this section too was moderately difficult.
