iBPS RRB Office Assistant vs IBPS Clerk: A Comprehensive Comparison
Let us compare the jobs in order to get a comprehensive picture of the two jobs regarding what they have to offer you for the future.
The first important thing about a job is the designation and you will get the similar designation in both the jobs. While you are assigned the title of office assistant in the regional rural banks, you are going to be called a clerk in case of a scheduled commercial bank where you may also be known as Single Window Operator or Assistant as well.
Job Profile in the jobs
The job profiles in both these jobs are almost similar since you will be the front desk jobs with the main part being interaction with the account holders of your branch. You need to update passbook, sit in cash counters, enter cash receipts and payments, open accounts, open fixed deposits accounts etc. Both the jobs will demand the same kind of works from you.
Work related stress
This is more in case of scheduled commercial banks whereas in case of regional rural banks, this is comparatively less. You will be required to do additional things in case of scheduled commercial banks whereas in case of RRB, there will be very little to do other than your regular duties.
For most of the banks, clerical staff can leave the office after the regulated working hours but in case of scheduled banks, this may be extended a bit in case of emergency and the same goes for regional rural banks as well since in both the organizations, you need to respond to the situation as and when it comes.
In case of career growth and career progression, you will find it better in case of scheduled commercial banks and in case of regional rural banks, this is very slow. In case of scheduled commercial banks, you can reach upto the level of Scale V in the bank in a span of 15 years if you take timely promotion every time but the same will not be possible for RRBs.
Opportunities to learn in the job
This is obviously more in case of IBPS Clerk since scheduled commercial banks deal with a lot many departments such as corporate finance, foreign exchange management, digital banking etc along with the normal banking transactions whereas in case of RRBs, you are going to get limited opportunities to learn new things because the scope of the job is very limited s per the mandate given to them.
In case of both the jobs, you are going to get posting in your home state mainly but in case of PSBs, because of the number of branches being more, you may not be able to make daily journey to your place of posting and have to make your own arrangements near your branch. In case of RRBs, this may not be the case all the time since the chances of getting posting near your home is more but you cannot completely rule out posting a bit away from your home district.
IBPS RRB Office Assistants and IBPS Clerks are the similar jobs in terms of job profiles and salaries. You are going to make your choices based on your future prospects, hence and regarding that, PSBs are better choices compared to RRBs. If you want to stick to banking, RRB is not your choice but if you want the job as a stop-gap arrangement, your pick is RRB. So, make your priorities right from the very beginning and choose wisely. Study hard and give the best from your side.
All the best!!
