Eligibility Conditions for Information officer

To become an Information officer a candidate needs to have qualified bachelor’s degree with any stream or subject from a recognized university or educational institution. The candidate must have done one year PG diploma or two years PG degree in Public Relation from a recognized institution. Proficiency in language and computer application are  compulsory requirements for the Information Officer post.

Age Limit for Information officer

To become a Information officer a candidate’s age must fall into the range of 21 years to 35 years. However, the upper age limit could be 40 years or more at some of the institutions. The reserved category (SC / ST / OBC / PWD/ ExSM) candidates get relaxation in upper age limit according to the rules laid down by the Government.

Selection Process for Information officer

The selection of candidates for Information officer posts is done on the basis of their performance in the Academic Records, Written Exam and Personal Interview. Questions related to the various provisions of the Act, current affairs, any related work-experience, are asked during the personal interview.

Salary Structure of Information officer

For the post of Information officer, initially, a salary is given according to the Pay Band - 2, i.e. Rs. 9,300 – 34,800/- of the Sixth Pay Commission. Salary could be according to the Seventh Pay Commission wherever it has been implemented. Apart from this, various allowances (DA, HRA, etc.) are also given. If the appointment is to be done on contract basis, the candidate is given Rs. 50,000/- or more per month as consolidated salary on the post of Information Officer.
