Maharashtra Board HSC Biology Syllabus

Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has prescribed the syllabus and paper pattern of HSC Biology subject for students who will be studying in Class 11th and Class 12th. The Biology subjects can be selected as an elective subject of the seven subjects to be studied by students at higher secondary level. The Maharashtra Board HSC Biology question paper has been given weightage of 70 marks for Theory Paper and 30 marks for Practical Paper.

  • The syllabus of HSC Biology subject has been designed under the supervision of Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE).
  • Maharashtra Board HSC Biology paper has been revised so that students appearing for national level entrance exam like National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), AIIMS MBBS etc.
  • The syllabus for Biology subject including Botany and Zoology has been prescribed by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been divided in to two equal parts for Class 11th and 12th of Higher Secondary level of Maharashtra State Board of SSC and HSC Education.

  1. Multiple Choices Based Questions
  2. Very Short Answer type questions

Marking Scheme –

  • The MCQs and VSA type of questions carry 1 mark
  • Short Answer Type I questions carry 2 marks
  • Short Answer Type II questions carry 3 marks
  • Long Answer Type questions carry 5 marks

Difficulty level of HSC Biology question paper –

The difficulty level of questions has been decided as under –

  • Most difficulty question – 20%
  • Average difficulty questions -50%
  • Easy questions – 30%

Moreover, the students are tested for their knowledge and skills as per the weightage given below – 

  • Concept knowledge has been given weightage of 30%
  • Subject understanding has been given 40% weightage
  • Skills of Knowledge Application has been given 30% weightage
