The National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), an Autonomous Organisation of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, is a premier national centre of excellence in rural development. The sustainable rural development is basically the development which meets the need of present generation of rural people without compromising the capacity of future generations to fulfil their own needs.

Educational Qualification: Graduation in any discipline from a UGC recognised University. For foreign applicants, degree of their University should be recognised by their Government and their competence in English should be ensured.
Programme Duration: One year; Maximum 3 years
Course Fee: Admitted students will deposit Rs 17,000 (Rs 15,000 for SC/ ST/ PH) in two equal instalments at the commencement of each Semester. The Sponsoring Organisations, however, have to deposit full fee at the time of registration of their candidate(s). Admitted students will deposit as Programme Fee of US$ 1700 at the commencement of First Semester.
Selection Procedure: Selection of candidates including Indian in-service candidates will be made through a process of All-India Entrance Test which will test the verbal, quantitative, and analytical competencies of the students including English Language. Group Discussion and Personal Interviews will be conducted for the short-listed candidates. However, a separate merit list will be prepared for the Indian and International in-service candidates.
Application Fee: Application fee of Rs 500 (Rs 300 for SC/ ST and PWD candidates) through an ‘Account Payee' Demand Draft drawn in favour of NIRD-DEC-PGD-SRD, payable at Hyderabad (on reverse side of draft, name of applicant and name of Programme to be written).
