UPPSC PCS Exam 2018: Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has rescheduled the date of prelims exam 2018 that was scheduled to be held on 19 August 2018. Now, the preliminary exam will be held on 28 October 2018 for recruitment to the 924 vacant posts in Uttar Pradesh Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services.
As per media reports, the commission has received over 6.5 lakh applications this year while in the previous years, the applications were around 4.5 lakh. The commission has cancelled the preliminary examination due to rise in applications.
UPPSC Secretary Jagdish Tripathi said that the commission is not prepared to conduct exam for such huge number of candidates. Now, the commission has approached 8 to 10 more districts to conduct examination smoothly. The secretary also added that this year a lot of applications are received from the other states like Haryana, Bihar, Uttrakhand and Other States for 119 SDM Posts.
The PCS exam will be conducted into three phases- Preliminary, Mains and Viva-Voce. Those who will qualify the Preliminary Exam will be allowed to appear in UPSC Mains Exam. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview that will be declared successful on the basis of the main (written) examination. Candidates will have to fill up the prescribed application form before the Interview (viva-voce test).
