Q: What is WBJEE exam? Who conducts WBJEE?

A: WBJEE is West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam conducted by WBJEE Board for admissions to bachelor courses in engineering & technology, architecture and pharmacy. The students qualifying WBJEE will be eligible for admissions to the bachelor courses in Universities, Government Colleges, and Self-financing Engineering and Technological Institutes of the state.

Q: When WBJEE 2018 will be held?

A: The examination board has scheduled April 22, 2018 (Sunday) as the exam date for WBJEE 2018. There will be 2 papers for WBJEE 2018 and the exam for both papers will be held in two shifts as mentioned below in the table —

Q: Can I give WBJEE?

A: As per the eligibility criteria of WBJEE 2018, the candidates fulfilling the below-mentioned conditions are eligible to appear for the exam —

  • Candidates who are citizen of India
  • Candidates who will be achieving minimum 17 years of age as on December 31, 2018, i.e., they should be born on or after December 12, 2001, to be eligible for the exam
    There is no maximum age limit for WBJEE applicants
  • For admissions to engineering courses —candidates should have qualified their 12th board examination in physics, mathematics, and chemistry /biotechnology/ biology/ computer science/ computer applications. They should have completed their education from a regular school from any state or national education board only. The candidates must have obtained 45% marks in aggregate of the three subjects. If candidates belong to any reserved category i.e SC/ST/OBC/PWD then, they need to score at least 40% marks in the three subjects taken together.
  • For admissions to pharmacy courses — candidates must have qualified class 12 examinations from any state or central government recognised education board only. They must have studied Physics, chemistry and any one of the subjects from mathematics/biotechnology/ biology/ computer science/ computer applications with an aggregate of 45% marks. The candidates belonging to reserved category have been provided with 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks.
  • For admissions to all courses, candidates must have studied and qualified English subject with 30% marks.

Q: When will WBJEE 2018 forms be available? WBJEE how to apply?

A: Candidates who wanted to appear for WBJEE 2018 could apply in online mode only. The online application form of WBJEE 2018 was available from December 19, 2017, to January 19, 2018. No other mode of application was available for WBJEE 2018 application.

Q: Is WBJEE a tough exam? Can I crack WBJEE with 1 month preparation?

A: WBJEE is a state level examination and more than one lakh candidates appear for the exam every year, so the exam can be of moderate level as compared to other national level entrance exams like JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET etc. Students can easily crack WBJEE 2018 with 2-3 months preparations for the exam. They should strategically set a schedule and prepare for WBJEE. Also, if students practice previous years question papers and mock test papers as much as possible as their speed and accuracy will improve, and they will be able to score higher marks in the entrance exam.

Q: When will WBJEE 2018 result be declared?

A: The tentative date for WBJEE 2018 result announcement is June 5, 2018.

WBJEE Previous Year Solved Question Papers

Q: When will WBJEE 2018 counselling start?

A: The counselling dates of WBJEE 2018 are not announced yet. However, students can expect WBJEE 2018 counselling to begin in the second week of June 2018.

Q: How is WBJEE rank calculated?

A: WBJEEB will release two rank lists as per the papers of WBJEE 2018 i.e. Paper 1 for Mathematics and Paper 2 for subjects Physics and Chemistry. The two rank list for WBJEE 2018 will be as mentioned below—

General Merit Rank List (GMR) for WBJEE 2018: For aggregate marks scored in both papers. The students who have appeared in both papers of WBJEE and have qualified the exam as per the cut off marks will be eligible for admissions to engineering & technology/architecture courses and also for pharmacy courses offered at Jadavpur University. Moreover, the GMR list will also mention reserved category a candidate belongs to against his/her rank.

Pharmacy Merit Rank List (PMR) for WBJEE 2018: The rank list of WBJEE 2018 will be based only on the marks of paper 2 candidates. The candidates who appeared for paper 2 of WBJEE 2018 and qualified for the exam as per the minimum cut off marks will be ranked in descending order of their ranks. The candidates ranking in the list will be eligible for admission in pharmacy courses of Universities and Pharmacy Institutes except at Jadavpur University.

Tie-breaking in WBJEE rank list:

In case, one or more candidates score same marks in WBJEE 2018 papers, the following methods will be implemented to resolve the ranking —

For GMR List: The candidates for paper 1 and paper 2 will be ranked as per the below-mentioned methods —

  • Less negative marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry took together
  • More positive marks in Mathematics and Physics took together
  • More positive marks in Mathematics and Chemistry took together
  • Less negative marks in Mathematics and Physics took together
  • Less negative marks in Mathematics and Chemistry took together
  • More positive marks in Mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
  • More positive marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions
  • More positive marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions
  • Less negative marks in Mathematics for only the 2 marks questions
  • Less negative marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions

For PMR List: For candidates who only appeared for paper 2 of WBJEE, the tie-in ranks will be resolved as under —

  • Less negative marks in Physics & Chemistry
  • More positive marks in Chemistry
  • Less negative marks in Chemistry
  • More positive marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions
  • Less negative marks in Chemistry for only the 2 marks questions
  • More positive marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions
  • Less negative marks in Physics for only the 2 marks questions

Note: In case, if the tie still exists then the date of birth will be taken into consideration to break the tie in ranks and candidates older in age will be given preference.
