India vs New Zealand Predicted Playing XI, World Cup 2019: India’s Probable Playing XI, Key Player Face-offs
Despite weather playing a spoilsport at the moment in Trent Bridge, Team India is all set for its clash against New Zealand, the clash of the two unbeaten teams in ICC World Cup 2019.
While Virat Kohli-led India have already passed a tough test and emerged victorious in their matches against strong teams like South Africa and Australia, New Zealand top the world cup points table with three straight wins against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The team will be facing their toughest challenge yet in the world cup when they take on India in Match 18 of the ICC World Cup in Nottingham.
India will also be up for a huge challenge, as New Zealand had beaten India previously in their first world cup warm-up game. India is also one man down with Shikhar Dhawan out with thumb fracture.
The India vs New Zealand will take place at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from 3 pm IST if weather improves and rain stops.
The pitch at Trent Bridge is known to favour the batsmen, hence it is known to be a big scoring ground.
However, during the Pakistan vs West Indies match, in which Pakistan shockingly folded up in just 105 runs, the pitch offered the right pace and bounce for the pacers to do their magic. Pakistan redeemed itself in its second match against England, where it won by 14 runs.
Overall, the pitch at Trent Bridge offers the possibility of a great high-scoring game if the weather doesn’t play spoilsport.

India’s Predicted Playing XI: Virat Kohli (capt),Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Vijay Shankar, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Kedar Jadhav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah.
New Zealand’s Predicted Playing XI: Kane Williamson (c), Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, James Neesham, Colin de Grandhomme, Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult.

India vs New Zealand World Cup 2019: Three key player face-offs
1. Rohit Sharma vs Trent Boult
Trent Boult could pose one of the biggest threats to the Indian batsmen, especially to India’s opening batsman Rohit Sharma. Boult could be lethal if gets Sharma out early. Trent Boult will certainly be the biggest threat as far as New Zealand are concerned for India. Boult, who has one of the best ODI records since the 2015 World Cup, wrecked havoc in the warm-up tie against India where there was some swing on offer. Rohit Sharma has been in fine form since the World Cup has started but he has a tendency to struggle against left-arm pacers, especially early in the innings with the ball coming into him. If he can tackle Boult's threat early on, then the hitman can certainly go on to make another big score but he will certainly find it tough against one of the best swing bowlers in the world - Trent Boult.
2. Virat Kohli vs Trent Boult
Trent Boult had troubled the Indian batsmen majorly during India’s warm-up match against New Zealand and he could very well do it again. With Shikhar Dhawan out of the game, Kohli is expected to open with Sharma and if he manages to tackle Boult's threat early on, then he could go on to make a huge score like he did in the last match against Australia. Kohli, like Sharma does not have a good strike rate against Boult.
3. Jasprit Bumrah vs Kane Williamson
Jasprit Bumrah has been in his top form since the ICC World Cup 2019 and it would be interesting to see when he faces New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson. Batsmen often find it difficult to read Bumrah’s bowling, Williamson, however, is known for his calm head, especially in the middle overs. New Zealand relies heavily on Williamson to score and if Bumrah can get him out early with the new ball, it would be a great start for India.
