Nirmala Sitharaman ranks 34th in Forbes’ 100 Powerful Women of 2019
Nirmala Sitharaman’s name has been included in the list of top Forbes' 100 most Powerful Women List of 2019. She is India’s former Defence Minister and current Finance Minister. Sitharaman also surpassed Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump and Queen Elizabeth II in the list.
Along with Sitharaman, Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO and Executive Director of HCL Corporation and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, founder of Biocon, are included in the list. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has topped the Forbes 2019 'The World's 100 Most Powerful Women' list.

The list includes Melinda Gates (6th), IBM CEO Jinny Rometty (9th), Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg (18th), Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (29th), New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern (38th), Ivanka Trump (42nd), Rihanna (61st) Beyoncé (66th), Taylor Swift (71st), tennis star Serena Williams (81st) and environmental activist Greta Thunberg are ranked 100th.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has managed to top this list for the ninth consecutive year. Forbes wrote about her that Merkel is fighting anti-refugee sentiments in Europe. European Central Bank Chief Christine Lagarde (2nd) and Speaker of the US Parliament Nancy Pelosi (3rd) are among the top 100 powerful women of the world.
