Kathua Case Verdict: Life imprisonment for 3, five year jail term for 3 cops
A Pathankot special court has announced the verdict in the case of Kathua rape and murder case. The court announced 25 years of life imprisonment to three of the accused - Parvesh, Deepak Khajuria and Sanji Ram. While, five-year jail term was announced for the three cops - SI Anand Dutta, head constable Tilak Raj and special police officer Surender Verma, who were accused of destroying evidence.
Yuvraj Singh announces retirement from international cricket
Yuvraj Singh retires from international cricket: The legendary all-rounder said that it was time to move forward. Yuvraj Singh had played his last Test in 2012 and ODI and T20 in 2017. The 37-year-old all-rounder stated, "After 25 years in and around the 22 yards and almost 17 years of international cricket on and off, I have decided to move on.” Yuvraj Singh had played an instrumental role in many of India’s big cricketing wins including the 2007 World T20 and the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
Girish Karnad, veteran film and theatre personality, dies
Girish Karnad, veteran bollywood and theatre personality, passed away on June 10, 2019 in Bengaluru at the age of 81. Girish Karnad was a recipient of the 1998 Jnanpith Award. He played key roles in movies like Dor (2006), 8 x 10 Tasveer (2009) and Aashayein (2010). His famous movies included Salman Khan starrer "Ek Tha Tiger"(2012) and its sequel "Tiger Zinda Hai"(2017).
