The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea by a Muslim body challenging the new triple talaq law. The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind moved the apex court on August 23, 2019 questioning the validity of the new triple talaq law.

Vikram Rathour, former opener would be replacing Sanjay Bangar as India's new batting coach. India’s bowling and fielding coaches Bharath Arun and R. Sridhar have been retained. Vikram Rathour had played six Tests and seven ODIs in 1996 without much success but played a lot of domestic cricket for Punjab. He was a senior national selector under Sandeep Patil's chairmanship till 2016.

FATF Asia Pacific Group (APG) placed Pakistan on its Blacklist for failure to meet global standards and doing terror funding. The Blacklist is also known as Expedited Follow Up List. Pakistan turned out to be non-compliant in 32 of the 40 Compliance Parameters on Money Laundering.

Google on August 23, 2019 announced that the Android Q version will now be known as ‘Android 10’, breaking its 10-year old tradition of naming Android versions after desserts or sweets.

Union Finance Ministry launched the Sabka Vishwas-Legacy Dispute Resolution Scheme 2019 recently. The Scheme will be implemented from September 1, 2019 and would continue till December 31, 2019. The scheme is aimed at dispute resolution and amnesty.

Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh recently approved a proposal to declare Ocean Energy as Renewable Energy. Energy produced using tidal, wave and ocean thermal energy conversion will be considered as Renewable Energy.

Iran unveiled a domestically built long-range, surface-to-air missile air defense system on August 22, 2019. Iran revealed the domestically built missile defense system during its National Defense Industry Day. The move has come at a time when there is rising tension with the United States.

Russia launched a rocket carrying life-sized robot to the International Space Station (ISS) from Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. It is set to arrive at the station on Saturday. The robot, named Fedor is the first ever sent into space by Russia.
