1. (a) England 

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on September 21, 2021 that they have withdrawn from the Pakistan tour that was scheduled to take place in October. ECB had earlier this year agreed to play two additional T20 World Cup warm-up games in Pakistan in October, ahead of the T20 World Cup. A short women's tour was also scheduled during the same time. 

2. (b) 46th 

India has been ranked 46th by the World Intellectual Property Organization in the Global Innovation Index Rankings 2021. The country has climbed two spots from its ranking in 2020.

3. (d) Switzerland 

Switzerland topped Global Innovation Index Rankings 2021, followed by Sweden at second place, US at third, the UK at fourth and the Republic of Korea at the fifth spot. The index gives detailed data about the innovation performance of 131 economies and countries around the world.

4. (c) September 26th 

Germany will go to polls on September 26, 2021 to determine who will succeed Chancellor Angela Merkel. Merkel, who has been in power for 16 years, will not be running in the 2021 German Elections.

5. (d) Sikkim

The fisheries department of Sikkim revealed that the Sikkim Government has declared ‘Copper Mahseer’ locally named ‘Katley’ as the State Fish.

6. (c) Karnataka

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai introduced the Karnataka Religious Structure (Protection) Bill 2021 on September 20, 2021. The Bill aims at protecting illegal religious structures in the state after the state government faced a backlash over the demolition of a temple in the Nanjangud district of Mysuru.

7. (a) September 24th 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden will be holding a bilateral meeting on September 24, 2021, confirmed the White House. PM Modi will visit the US this week and participate in the first in-person Quad Leaders Summit and UN General Debate.

8. (b) September 21st

International Peace Day 2021 is observed every year across the world on September 21st. The day seeks to remind people of all nations and races to think about universal peace. The relevance of the day is even more now as there are countries that are seeing continuous violence and destruction.
