1. (a) Jaipur
The first edition of the International Symposium to Promote Innovation & Research in Energy Efficiency (INSPIRE 2017) started in Jaipur, Rajasthan on 27 November 2017. The 5-day symposium is being organized by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) in partnership with World Bank (WB) and Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE).

India Hypertension Management Initiative (IHMI) was launched by Preeti Sudan, Secretary of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and Soumya Swaminathan, Director of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in New Delhi. The purpose of IHMI is to reduce disability and death related to Cardio-Vascular Disease (CVD).

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest bowler to reach the milestone of 300 Test wickets on 27 November 2017 thereby, breaking Dennis Lillee's record. Ashwin acheieved the feat in his 54th match during India's win over Sri Lanka in the second Test. Australian fast bowling legend Lillee had reached the milestone in 56 Test matches way back in 1981 and it took 36 years for another bowler to surpass the record.

Raj Shah, who holds a key position in the White House, became the first Indian-American on 29 November 2017 to hold a press gaggle aboard presidential aircraft Air Force One. Gaggle is the term used for informal briefing by the White House Press Secretary, which is on the record but bars reporters from videographing.

The logo and mascot of Hockey World Cup 2018 were unveiled by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on 29 November 2017. The Chief Minister also launched the countdown timer for the international event that is scheduled to be held in the state from 28 November to 16 December 2018.
10. (a) Indian Women's Cricket Team
The Indian Women's Cricket Team, which was the runners-up in the ICC Women's World Cup 2017, was named the ‘Team of the Year’ at the inaugural edition of the Indian Sports Honours. In the team sport category, Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently achieved the feat of becoming the fastest bowler to reach 'Club 300' in Test cricket, was awarded Sportsman of the Year award, while women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj was awarded Sportswoman of the Year award.
11. (b) P V Sindhu
The Inaugural edition of the Indian Sports Honours, which was held in Mumbai, saw Kidambi Srikanth and P V Sindhu grab the top honours. While ace shuttler Srikanth, who won four Super Series titles this year, won the Sportsman of the Year award, Rio Olympics silver medallist Sindhu won the Sportswoman of the Year award in the individual sport category.

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has banned sand mining in Tamil Nadu. Justice R Mahadevan has directed the state government to close down all sand quarries within the next six months and asked to take measures for the import of sand to meet the requirements.
