    The office of the Chief Commissioner of Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax celebrated Central Excise Day on (24 Feb) at the Port Kalavani Auditorium, Visakhapatnam on 24 Feb 2010. The Central Excise Department held a free diabetes camp and conducted sports events for the staff and their family members to mark the celebration.

    White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, India, launched a year-long campaign in New Delhi to mark National Safe Motherhood Day on 11 April 2010.  The campaign sought stronger commitment among various stakeholders to play an active role in promoting safe motherhood.

  • 24 April: National Panchayati Raj Day

    On the occasion of the National Panchayati Raj Day, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 24 April 2010 inaugurated a conference organized by the Ministry of the Panchayati Raj in New Delhi. In this conference, he urged panchayats to play a big role in helping the Centre tackle the rebels by working more effectively and ensuring administrative transparency.
