Five new governors appointed: Arif M Khan gets Kerala, Tamilisai Soundararajan appointed as first separate Telangana Governor

Five new governors appointed: Five states got new Governors after the Union Government appointed five new Governors on September 1, 2019. Tamilisai Soundararajan was appointed as Telangana Governor, Kalraj Mishra was transferred to Rajasthan, Bandaru Dattatreya  was appointed to Himachal Pradesh, Arif Mohammed Khan to Kerala and Bhagat Singh Koshyari was appointed to Maharashtra. 

Himachal Pradesh Governor Kalraj Mishra was transferred to Rajasthan and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya was appointed in his place as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Kalraj Mishra will be replacing Kalyan Singh in Rajasthan.
Former civil aviation minister Arif Mohammed Khan was appointed as the Governor of Kerala. Khan replaces former CJI P Sathasivam, whose five-year term came to an end. Senior BJP leader Bhagat Singh Koshyari was appointed as the new Governor of Maharashtra. Koshyari would be succeeding Vidya Sagar Rao, whose five-year term came to an end recently.
 
First Separate Governor of Telangana
 
Former Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Tamilisai Soundararajan was appointed as the Governor of Telangana. Soundararajan is also BJP’s national secretary. Earlier, the post of Governor in Telangana was held by E S L Narasimhan as a dual charge, as he was the Governor of Andhra Pradesh before its bifurcation. However, the post was vacant after he demitted office recently. Hence, Tamilisai Soundararajan will be the first independent Governor of Telangana.
