Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda approved an outlay of Rs.1,255 crore for upgradation of water supply and sewerage works in the State on 4 May 2011. Of the total amount approved, Rs.567 crore would be spent for improvement of drinking water supply facilities in rural areas. The approval was given when he was presiding over the first meeting of the Water Supply and Sewerage Board for the year 2011-12.


Hooda directed the officers to speed up the works and ensure that funds are fully utilised. Officers were asked to visit the villages to check the functioning of the Indira Gandhi Drinking Water Scheme and ensure that all houses had proper water connections.
