  • Panasonic to Sponsor National Football Team

    A three-year deal was signed between Panasonic and The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on 16 Jan 2010. According to the deal Panasonic would sponsor the National senior football team.

  • Bindra not Selected for 2010 Commonwealth Shooting Championship

    The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) on 18 Jan 2010 declared that Avinav Bindra would not be selected for the 2010 Commonwealth shooting championship. He was however allowed to compete in one of the season's world cups scheduled to be held at Fort Benning and Belgrade.

    Gaganjeet Bhullar of India produced a brilliant course record eight-under-par 64 to win the season-opening Asian Tour International by one shot on 7 Feb 2010 defeating Korea’s Hwang Inn-choon. Japan’s Tetsuji Hiratsuka came third while Kiradech Aphibarnrat of Thailand and Jbe Kruger of South Africa jointly bagged the fourth position.

  • Committee Formed to look into Gradation of Players

    In an attempt to introduce a graded-payment system, Hockey India (HI) on 8 Feb 2010 formed a committee consisting of former players Ajit Pal Singh, M.P. Ganesh, Zafar Iqbal and Dhanraj Pillay to look into the gradation of players. HI President Vidya Stokes and Secretary-General Narinder Batra will be the special invitees to the panel. Jagbir Singh, Director (Planning) of Hockey India would be the convener of the panel.
