1. (a) India
The Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) led a 75-member Indian delegation for the ongoing 87th Izmir International Trade Show in Turkey. The delegation had several B2B meetings and business tie-ups with members of the Turkish business community. India is the Focus Country in the trade show with a standalone pavilion named ‘Source India’.

The Bogibeel Bridge is a combined road and rail bridge over the Brahmaputra River in Assam, which is expected to complete at the end of 2018. The 4.94 km bridge will facilitate road and rail connectivity between the north and south banks of the Brahmaputra in the eastern part of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The 12th edition of Aero India 2019 will be held in Bengaluru, Karnataka from February 20 to 24, 2019. This 5-day event will combine a major trade exhibition for the aerospace and defence industries with public air shows.

The World Suicide Prevention Day is celebrated every year on September 10, 2018 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP). The purpose of this day is to raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented.

The United States on September 10, 2018 announced the closure of the Palestine Liberation Organisation's (PLO) mission in Washington DC. Explaining the move, the US state department said that the PLO leaders had failed to engage with US efforts to bring about peace with Israel and attempted to prompt an investigation of Israel by the International Criminal Court.

Microsoft on September 11, 2018 announced that it has selected seven Indian grantees for its $50 million “AI for Earth” programme aimed at empowering people and organisations to solve environmental challenges through the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In a first, Tejas, the advanced version of India’s indigenously produced Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) was successfully refuelled mid-air by a Russian-origin Ilyushin-78 tanker. The mid-air refuelling was a part of a ‘wet contact’ trial for LCA Tejas MK-1.

The 4th World Summit on Accreditation was inaugurated by the Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar at New Delhi on September 8. The theme of WOSA 2018 was ‘challenges and opportunities in outcome-based accreditation’. It aimed to help in establishing new trends of identifying opportunities and challenges in professional and technical education worldwide.

Jack Ma, the co-founder and executive chairman of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, announced on September 10, 2018 that he will step down as the head of the company in 2019. He named the company CEO Daniel Zhang as his successor.
10. (c) Department of Posts
The Department of Posts has clarified that Aadhaar is not a mandatory document to be produced at the time of booking of an international parcel. It stated that it is mandatory to produce a copy of an identity proof acceptable for important transactions but that need not mandatorily be Aadhaar.
