The World Consumer Rights Day was observed across the world on March 15, 2019 with an aim to promote basic rights of consumers and to ensure that these rights are respected and protected. The theme of 2019 World Consumer Rights Day was ‘Trusted Smart Products’.

As per the media reports, a seven year old boy from Malappuram District of Kerala is suffering from a West Nile Virus (WNV), a mosquito-borne disease, mostly reported in the continental United States. The West Nile Virus is mainly transmitted to human beings by the bite of an infected mosquito.
3. (b) IDBI Bank
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on March 14, 2019 categorised the IDBI Bank Limited as a ‘Private Sector Bank’ for regulatory purposes with effect from January 21, 2019. The Reserve Bank of India also named the State Bank of India (SBI), the ICICI Bank and the HDFC Bank as Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIBs).

France decided to freeze all assets of Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar in application of the country's Monetary and Financial Code. The decision came after China blocked the UNSC bid to designate Azhar as global terrorist.

The first meeting of the three-member mediation committee on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case began in Ayodhya on March 13, 2019. The mediation meeting led by former Supreme Court judge, Justice Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim Kalifulla was attended by panel members’ spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu and several litigants from both sides.

The Supreme Court on March 13, 2019 pulled up the Assam government over inadequacies in the functioning of foreigners’ tribunals in the state. The court sought details on the matter March 27. During the hearing, the state government told the apex court that 50,000 migrants were declared foreigners by the tribunal in the past 10 years.
