1. (a) Sheikh Hasina
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was conferred with the ‘SDG Progress Award’ by the UN-sponsored Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) for Bangladesh’s steady progress in achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
2. (a) Charanjit Singh Channi
Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi took oath as the 16th Chief Minister of Punjab at the Raj Bhawan on September 20, 2021. Two other Congress MLAs, Sukhjinder S Randhawa and OP Soni were also sworn in as deputy Chief Ministers of Punjab on the occasion by Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Delta variant of COVID-19 is by far the world's most dominant variant, surpassing other variants of concern-alpha, beta and gamma, informed World Health Organization’s (WHO) technical lead Maria Van Kerkhove on September 22, 2021.
4. (a) TATA
India on September 24, 2021 signed a contract worth Rs 20,000 crore with Airbus Defence and Space of Spain to procure 56 C-295 military transport aircraft. The project is the first of its kind as it will be the first time that a military aircraft will be wholly manufactured in India by a private company, Tata Advanced Systems (TASL).

Iran has become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Iran was so far participating in SCO meetings as an observer nation, a status that it had acquired in June 2005. It had applied for full membership of the bloc first in 2008 and then again in 2010 but both times it was not successful.

The Taliban in Afghanistan nominated their Doha-based spokesman Suhail Shaheen as Afghanistan’s UN Ambassador.This sets up a showdown with Ghulam Isaczai, the UN Ambassador in New York representing Afghanistan’s government which was ousted from the country after the Taliban take over in August 2021.

India has been ranked 46th by the World Intellectual Property Organization in the Global Innovation Index Rankings 2021. The country has climbed two spots from its ranking in 2020.
10. (d) Switzerland
Switzerland topped Global Innovation Index Rankings 2021, followed by Sweden at second place, US at third, the UK at fourth and the Republic of Korea at the fifth spot. The index gives detailed data about the innovation performance of 131 economies and countries around the world.

The Crown, with 11 nominations for Emmys, won big with a total of 7 awards including Outstanding Drama Series at Emmy 2021 Awards. Olivia Colman from The Crown won the Outstanding Actress- Drama Award while Kate Winslet won Outstanding Actress- Limited Series or Movie award for her role in the Limited Drama Series ‘Mare of Easttown’.
12. (a) Josh O’Connor
Josh O’Connor, who essayed the role of young Prince Charles in the Netflix drama The Crown, won the Outstanding Actor- Drama award at Emmy 2021 Awards.
