Ganga Dussehra (Sunday, 20 June): Ganga Dussehra is observed to venerate Goddess Ganga and Lord Shiva. On Jyeshta Shukla Dashami, Ganga, the holy river is said to have descended on Earth. The day is also called Gangavataran.
Gayatri Jayanti/ Nirjala Ekadashi (Monday June 21): Nirjala Ekadashi is the most important and significant Ekadashis out of all twenty four Ekadashis in a year. Devotees abstain not only from food but also from water while observing Nirjala Ekadashi Vrat.

Any month is made up of two fortnights called Paksha. One of the fortnights is bright due to the waxing moon while the other is dark due to the waning moon. The bright one is called the Shukla Paksha while the Dark one is called the Krishna Paksha.
