What is Commonwealth?
The Commonwealth of Nations (formerly the British Commonwealth), also known as the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth is an intergovernmental organisation of 53 member states, mostly were ruled by the British Empire.
When was Commonwealth established?
Eight governments came together on 28 April 1949 to form the modern Commonwealth. These countries were; United Kingdom, Australia, India, South Africa, Canada, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Pakistan.
What is the goal of Commonwealth?
The main goal of the Commonwealth organisation is to improve the well-being of all Commonwealth citizens and to advance their shared interests globally.
The combined population of the Commonwealth is around 2.4 billion people which include both advanced and developing countries. Thirty members of commonwealth are small states, many of which are island nations.

The last two countries to join the Commonwealth are- Rwanda and Mozambique - have no historical ties to the British Empire but these two countries are members of the Commonwealth. On the other hand USA has been ruled by the British but it is not the member of the commonwealth.
