The hat-trick of wickets is a special phenomenon in the test match. It is considered the rarest feat in the test match. There are 44 hat-trick of wickets have been taken in test matches so far. 

Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne is the only ground that witnessed 5 hat-tricks in test matches.

The first Test hat-trick was claimed by the Australian pace bowler ‘Fred Spofforth’ against England on 2 January 1879. The latest Test hat-trick was earned by the Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah against West Indies on 31 August 2019.

Before Bumrah two other Indians Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan have achieved this feat in the test match.

1. England’s cricket players have earned most hat-tricks in the test matches. There are 14 hat-tricks of wickets in matches have been claimed by the 13 players. Followed by the 9 Australian players who claimed 11 hat-tricks.

2. Sohag Gazi (Bangladesh) is the only player who take a hat-trick and scored a century in the same test match.

3. There are 3 players have taken hat-trick on their Test debut. Their name are; English medium pace bowler Maurice Allom (1930), New Zealand's Peter Petherick (1976), and Australian pace bowler Damien Fleming in 1994.

4. There are 4 bowlers have taken more than one hat-trick in test cricket.

5.  Wasim Akram (Pakistan) had took two hat-tricks in the duration of nine days in 1999.
