Established in 1946, BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore was founded by Late Shri, B. M. Sreenivasaiah- a philanthropist and visionary. It is the first private engineering college in India since its establishment. BMS College of Engineering initially started with only 3 UG programmes and today the engineering college offers as many as 13 Undergraduate and 16 postgraduate courses. The leading engineering college not only attracts students from Karnataka but from other parts of India as well. BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore is accredited by various government agencies/ councils including AICTE, NAAC and National Board of Accreditation (NBA) among others. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka. It is the only educational institution from India that has been adopted by Melton Foundation, USA.
