Named after Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler, governor of the United Provinces in British India – the Harcourt Butler Technological University is a premier and one of the oldest technical institutes located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The University dates back to 1921 when it was known as the Government Technological Institute; in 1928, it was renamed as the Harcourt Butler Technological Institute. It was granted the status of a University in September 2016. The institute holds ISO 9001:2000 certification and offers Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral programs in engineering and technical studies.
