With over 60 years of eventful journey, Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM) was the peak point of joint initiative taken by Government of West Bengal, University of Calcutta and Government of India to set up a management education in India. The institute was established in 1953 by a resolution passed down by the Senate of the University of Calcutta. Dr. B.C. Roy, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal was responsible for establishing IISWBM. Back in 1954 the institute, for the first time in India, introduced PG Diploma in Business Management affiliated to University of Calcutta.
