The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur is a public engineering college situated in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology established, administered and funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It was established in the year 1986 and was initially known as the Regional College Of Engineering, Hamirpur. The institute was founded as a joint venture between the government of India and Government of Himachal Pradesh. It was awarded the status of the deemed university and upgraded to the National Institute of Technology in the year 2002. It was also awarded the status of Institute of National Importance, along with all the other NITs by the Government of India.
