The foundation stone of the SRM University was laid in the year 2002 under the sponsorship and guidance of educationist T. R. Pachamuthu. The Chennai chapter of the SRM University has two campuses one located at Ramapuram and the other at Vadapalani. Now, the SRM University Chennai is now known as the SRM Institute of Science and Technology. SRM University, Chennai enjoys approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). Ove the last decade, the university has earned name and fame for being provider of quality education in a diverse array of fields and disciplines.
