Assam Board Exam begins today

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council will begin the Assam Board class 12 examinations today. The examinations for the Assam Board class 12 students will be conducted in two shifts across the designated examination centres across the state. While the first shift will be conducted from 9:00 AM the second shift will begin at 1:30 PM. Candidates must note that extra time of 15 minutes will be provided at the beginning of the examination for them to read through the question paper of the examination thoroughly.

According to media reports, a total of 2.34 lakh students are expected to appear for the Assam Board Higher Secondary (Class 12) examinations today. The numbers as per the analysis conducted are lower than that from the previous year which saw 2.42 lakh students appearing for the examination. AHSEC Deputy Secretary Jyoti Kalita while speaking to the media said that about 1,75,175 students will appear in the Arts stream while 18, 178 students and 40,558 students will appear for the Commerce and Science streams respectively. Along with these around 45,000 students will be appearing for the Open School Class 12 examination.

Candidates appearing for the Assam Board Class 12 examination are required to carry their Assam Board Class 12 Admit Card with them for the examination. The students are required to present their hall ticket at the examination centre to the invigilators. Students appearing for the examination are also required to reach their designated exam centres way ahead of time in order to avoid late entry. Candidates reporting late to the examination centres will not be allowed to appear for the exams.

Following the procedures as every year the board this year also has taken strict measures to prevent malpractices of any sort. The exam centres are reportedly under CCTV surveillance and jammers are installed in the sensitive centres. The board officials have claimed that around 40 observers and 950 supervisors have been appointed by the board to look over the exams.

The invigilators of the examinations will also not be allowed to carry any sorts of electronic equipment inside the exam hall.
