The Union Health Ministry in its evening briefing today said that it has asked Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited to start production of additional ventilators as part of its preparations to counter COVID-19. The officials said that the 30,000 ventilators from BHEL will start reaching the hospital soon. They also added that one more government vendor will also supply 10,000 ventilators soon.

As per media reports, three fresh cases have been reported from Gautam Buddh Nagar i.e. Noida and Greater Noida. Reports suggest that of the three, two cases have been identified from a housing complex located in Sector 137 while another case has been reported from Sector 3. Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate has ordered the sealing of the housing societies to curb the spread of the disease.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has setup a dedicated taskforce to enforce a strict lockdown across the state to curb the spread of Coronavirus in the country. The taskforce consist of 11 teams who will be required to enforce a strict lockdown in the state and also to ensure that all essential items and daily necessities are available to the people during the lockdown period. During his briefing, Delhi CM also talked about the preparedness of government to handle the Coronavirus spread in the national capital. He said that currently, the national capital has capacity to handle 100 fresh cases of COVID-19 per day with the existing health infrastructure. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das announced reduction in Repo Rate for of 75 basis points to to deal with the impact of deadly coronavirus outbbreak on the economy. In line with this, the Reverse Repo Rate was also cut sharply by 90 basis points to 4% today.

RBI has also announced the reduction of Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) of all banks by 100 basis points. This would mean that the CRR would come down to 3% of Net Demand and Time Liabilities. It will be in effect from 28th March 2020 for a period of 1 Year.

In an update issued today morning, the Health Ministry said that the number of positive cases for COVID0-19 in the country has soared to 724 while the Dealth Toll rose to 17 across India. Health Ministry officials said that there are signs of the pace of Coronavirus infections slowing down as compared to the last three days. But, they also warned that the situation is still sensitive and advised people to strictly follow the lockdown procedures and follow social distancing norms.
