Coronavirus Crisis – Education Live Update: Late evening on Wednesday, CBSE Board decided to reschedule all the pending papers for ongoing board exams after 31st March 2020 in the light on the COVID-19 threat. The decision was confirmed by CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathy as reported by ANI News agency. Earlier in the evening, MHRD issued a notification which ordered cancellation of all on-going exams including, CBSE, NIOS and other Board exams as well as University Exams, in order to curtail the further spread of the Coronavirus. On similar lines, MHRD has also advised for rescheduling of JEE Main exam which will clash with the CBSE Board exam after rescheduling.

19 Mar 12:06 AMICSE Exams NOT Postponed, says Officials
Following the announcement by CBSE Board about postponement of CBSE Board Exam 2020 until 31st MArch 2020; there was confusion among ICSE students who are ungerdoing their exams. To clarify the stand of CISCE Board, the Board Cheif Executive and Chairman Gerry Arathoon issued a statement to PTI confirming that indeed the 10th and 12th Board Exam of CISCE Board have not been cancelled. He also said that there has been no changes in the exam schedule of ICSE Exam and it will be held as per the schedule announced earlier.

The HRD Ministry has issued a notification recently confirming that JEE Main 2020 April Exam will be postponed in the light of rescheduling of the CBSE 12th Exam 2020 after 31st March due to Coronavirus crisis. Following this, NTA is expected to reschedule JEE Main 2020 April exam to avoid a direct clash between CBSE Board Exams and Engineering Entrance Test. The notification also states that JEE Main being a major national-level exam, would require candidates to travel across cities, which is currently not advised during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

CBSE Board has decided to reschedule the on-going CBSE 10th and 12th Board Exam 2020 in the light of the COVID-19 threat. Accoriding to a tweet by ANI, CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathy has confirmed that all pending papers for 10th and 12th Board Exams have been postponed and will be rescheduled after 31st March 2020. The decision has been taken by the board in the light of the MHRD notification, advising cancellation of all board, university and entrance examinations until 31st March.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education i.e. MAHE has extended the holidays for its students until 31st May 2020 amid the rising concerns around COVID-19. However, as per the official notice the extension is not application to the students of medical, dental and allied health sciences. Earlier, MAHE had announced closure of all educational affiliated with it until 28th March 2020.

Amid rising concerns regarding COVID-19 in the United Kingdom, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that his government will soon make an official announcement regarding closure of schools. Media reports indicate that Scotland has announced closure of schools from Friday with no notice about reopening of schools before summer. Wales is also likely to follow the same process and shutdown schools soon.

On Wednesday, the Andhra Pradesh Government announced closure of all educational institutions in the state amid the COVID-19 fear. The government ordered all educational institutions to be shutdown with ‘immediate effect’ as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus. The announcement was made by PV Ramesh, the additional chief secretary to Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, through his social media account. So far, AP has recorded only a single positive case of COVID-19 in a student who had travel history from Italy.

18 Mar 08:21 PMCISCE to allow teachers to evaluate answer books from home
In the light of the COVID-19 outbreak, the CISCE Board has allowed teachers involved in the evaluation of answer sheets for ICSE and ISC Exams to carry on the evaluation work from home. According to the notification, the centralized evaluation process has been put on hold by the CISCE and instead teachers will be allowed to work from home.

Following the order of UP Government regarding cancellation of exams, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, CCSU has announced postponement of all examinations that were scheduled to eb held from 18th March to 2nd April 2020. The news about postponement of CCSU Exams was confirmed by the varsity through official notification on its website. The notice also said that CCSU Meerut will announce revised dates for the exams soon.

In line with the government’s directive, the CBSE Board is expected to implement new seating arrangement under which only 12 students would seated in an examination hall to counter spread of coronavirus. The new seating arrangement is expected to be implemented for the exams to be held in future with an aim to counter COVID-19 spread among the students. Earlier, CBSE board would sit 24 students in an examination hall.

Along with school, college and entrance exams, several important recruitment exams have also been cancelled due to the Coronavirus crisis. In line with the COVID-19 outbreak, the Reserve Bank of India has decided to postpone RBI Assistant Main Exam 2020, which was scheduled to be held on 29th March 2020. RBI has also published an official notification confirming the same on its website rbi.org.in. New date for RBI Assistant Mains will be announced by the exam authority soon.

With the rising number of COVID-19 cases in UP, the Uttar Pradesh Government has announced that it will be promoting students upto Class 8 to the next class without examination. The decision was taken by the government keeping in mind the safety and health of the students from the state. The annual assessment of these students will be done by the schools based on their academic performance throughout the year. UP Additional Chief Secretary Renuka Kumar has issued an official directive confirming this action from UP government. Earlier, UP Government had announced closure of all educational institutions based in the state until 2nd April 2020.

Following the suit of Kendriya Vidhyalayas, some private schools in Pune have decided to promote students upto Class 6 without any exams. Some schools have already announced that they will not be holding any exams and instead will be promoting students to the next class based on their average score in the two recent unit tests. For now, these decisions are being taken by private schools and government is expected to take a final call on this for government schools in near future.

Symbiosis International (Deemed University) has issued a notification confirming that it has cancelled exams for all the classes at its institutes based in Pune. The institute announced that it will not be holding Term End Examinations for the students. Symbiosis follows a continuous evaluation system at both UG and PG levels, will be used to analyse the performance of the students.
18 Mar 11:04 AMUP Board Exam 2020 – Evaluation Halted until 2nd April
UP Board has decided to halt the evaluation process for the recently concluded UP Board 10th and 12th Board Exam 2020 amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state. Following request from the examiners, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has given relief to them by halting the evaluation work of answer books until 2nd April 2020. Postponement of evaluation work, will also result in delay in the declaration of UP Board Results 2020 for High School and Intermediate Exams.

Amid rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state, IIT Bombay – premier technology institute, has decided to implement a virtual lockdown of the campus from 20th March 2020 for the safety of the students and staff. The institute has issued an advisory for students confirming that “heavy restrictions will be imposed on their entry and exit in the campus from Friday night that is March 20, 2020.” Institute has also advised all students, except for foreign students, to vacate the campus before that.

CBSE Board has issued a clarifying statement via its official Twitter account ‘CBSE HQ’, clarifying that the CBSE 10th Social Science Paper 2020 which is scheduled to be held today has not been postponed. The clarification comes after fake news regarding postponement of the exam went viral on social media platforms yesterday.

AMU i.e. Aligarh Muslim University – released an official communication announcing the cancellation of all school examinations due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the state. The AMU notification states that all exams which were to be held between 22nd March and 29th March 2020 have been postponed until further notice. AMU School Admisison Test was scheduled to be held on 22nd March 2020 for 6th Class students and on 29th March 2020 for 9th Class students. Both these exams stand postponed as of now. However, semester exams would continue as per the schedule.
