Coronavirus in India Live Updates: With several Tablighi Jamaat delegates from Nizamuddin Event testing positive for COVID-19, Centre and State Government have started tracing all the people who attended the event. India’s tally of Coronavirus positive cases continued to soar close to 1600 with over 52 Deaths. According to media reports, over 3400 people is believed to have attended the event held at Nizamuddin Markaz building in mid-March. Globally, with the diseases spreading to voer 170 countries now, the number of COVID-19 cases rose close to 8 lakh with the Death Toll mounting to 41,000.

Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu continued to lead the states’ tally with the maximum number of COVID-19 cases in the country. Maharashtra’s state tally rose to 332, maximum in India, after two fresh cases were reported in the state, as informed by state Health Minister Rajesh Tope. Kerala has reported 24 new COVID-19 cases today, taking its tally to 265, while Tamil Nadu with highest single day spike of 110 cases has now total 234 cases of Coronavirus infection.
01 Apr 05:34 PM2346 people evacuated from Nizamuddin Markaz: Delhi CM Kejriwal
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday informed media persons that a total of 2346 people have been evacuated from the Nizamuddin Markaz so far. Of the total number of people evacuated, 536 people have been admitted to hospital across the cities while the rest 1810 people have been put in isolation/quarantine.

ICMR official R Ganga Ketkar informed the media persons that there are 126 laboratories within the ICMR network that are conducting the COVID-19 tests currently. In addition to this, 52 private laboratories have also been approved by the council to conduct tests for coronavirus. He also informed that so far 47,951 tests have been conducted by these laboratories till date.

Health Ministry officials also informed that over 1800 delegates who attended Tablighi Jamat event have been to 9 hospitals and quarantine canters to curb any further spread of the disease among the people. The ministry also attributed the sudden spike in the number of cases to the Tablighi Jamat event and said that it doesn’t represent a national trend.

Lav Agrawal, Joint Secretary, Ministry Of Health, in the evening press brief informed the media persons that total 1637 COVID-19 cases 38 deaths have been reported in India so far. He also said that Tuesday marked the highest single-day spike with 386 fresh cases. He said that one of the biggest reasons for the spike in number of cases was due to travel by members of Tablighi Jamat.

As per an ANI Report, 2 resident Doctors at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital have tested positive for COVID-19. Reports indicate that one doctor was directly involved in treatment of Coronavirus patients, while another is a postgraduate students in Biochemistry Dept. Both have been moved to isolation ward within the hospital.

After the completion of evacuation of all the people who were living at the Markaz Building at Nizamuddin, the administration has started an operation to completely sanitize the building to contain further spread of the virus.

In the latest development, ICMR has said that India will start producing new COVID-19 testing kids based on serological diagnostic testing method in the next two months. ICMR’s chief epidemiologist and communicable disease expert Dr R R Gangakhedkar said that with the isolation of virus already achieved, the council will now shift its focus towards developing diagnostic kits, medicines and vaccines.

According to the latest updates shared by the Ministry of Health, the total number of active cases for COVID-19 infection in the country has risen to 1466 with the Death Toll soaring to 38. According to reports, Researchers from IIT Guwahati have stepped up efforts to develop robots which can deliver medicines and other essentials to the patients or people who have been kept in isolation wards due to COVID-19 infection. The project is being led by a team IIT Guwahati's Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering departments which is aimed at reducing human intervention in isolation wards.

Delhi Police, on Wednesday, filed FIR against 6 people in relation to holding a religious congregation of Tablighi Jamaat despite the lockdown guidelines. Delhi police said that the Markaz has been vacated completely and around 2100 people have been taken out from the building to hospitals and quarantine centres.

According to a statement given by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, a total of 2,361 people evacuated from Nizamuddin Markaz. Of the total number of evacuees, 617 have been admitted to various hospitals in the national capital while rest have been sent to quarantine centres.
