ICSE Board cuts Syllabus by 25%: As per the latest update, the CISCE Board, which is commonly referred to as ICSE, has decided to reduce the overall course syllabus by nearly 25% in the light of the shortened academic year due to the on-going Coronavirus pandemic. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE)’s decision about reducing the syllabus would be applicable to higher classes only and will help rationalize the course curriculum, especially when limited teaching is going on with the help of online classes and digital tools. As per the official notification, the reduced syllabus will be applicable for students from 9th to 12th Classes and will help cope up with the loss of instructional hours due online classes and learning. To confirm the development, the CISCE Board released a detailed notification, which has been linked below. Students are advised to go through it to get more detailed understanding about the same.
CISCE Board announced its decision to rationalize syllabus or cut it short in the light of Coronavirus pandemic on 3rd July 2020. This made it the first board, even before the CBSE, to take such an important step to ensure academic learning doesn’t suffer for students because of the prevailing situation. Earlier yesterday, CBSE Board also announced its decision to reduce syllabus for 9th to 12th Class students.
According to the press release issued by the CISCE Board, the exercise of rationalization of syllabus for higher classes was held in consultation with academic experts and teachers who would be involved in teaching the syllabus. The press release said that subject matter experts were instructed to carry out reduction for major subjects in the overall syllabus in a way that linear progression across classes is not affected. Experts also ensured that the core concepts related to the subjects are not curtailed in the syllabus. The revised or reduced syllabus for classes has been made available on CISCE Board website now.REGISTER FOR RESULTS UPDATES
