Maharashtra SSC Exams to be conducted as scheduled

Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will be conducting the Maharashtra SSC 220 examinations as per schedule since only two exams are left. The board has however decided to cancel all the examinations to be conducted in the state and promote all the students from classes 1 to 8 without the examinations.

The decision to conduct the examinations for the SSC students has however not gone down well with the parents of the students. Parents have taken to social media to point out the threat that COVID-19 also known as the Novel coronavirus poses to the students.

Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad announced the same at a press conference conducted.

Until now, the board has not made any change in their decision to conduct the examination and they will be conducted as per schedule. Close to 17 lakh students will be appearing for the SSC Board History and Geography examinations to be held today and on March 23, 2020.

COVID-19 Cases in Maharashtra

Maharashtra has been one of the worst-hit in the pandemic with a total of 52 cases. With the rising number of cases, the state is in a partial lockdown in regions like Mumbai, MMR Region, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Nagpur regions.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackrey announced that from Friday onwards all workplaces will be closed until March 31, 2020.

The country has seen a rapid increase in the number of cases until yesterday with the tally of infected people reaching 223 out of which 23 have recovered while 4 deaths have been recorded.

In order to void the spread of the disease, many boards have postponed their class 10 and 12 board examinations and other common entrance examinations. The MHRD has also released a directive asking the universities and affiliated colleges and the boards to postpone the examinations until March 31, 2020.
