The candidates, who will be getting good marks in the CAT 2018 and according to their cut off marks, will be short-listed for the second stage selection process that includes - Group Discussion (GD), Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. According to the latest report, the CAT 2018 exam might be held in the month of November. In 2017, the CAT examination was conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow in which about 1,99,632 students had appeared for admission to various management courses offered across 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in the country. According to the official press release, the IIM had conducted the CAT 2017 examination in approximately 140 cities. The candidates were given the option to select 4 Test Cities in order of preference. Test Cities and centres were assigned to the candidates after the last date for CAT 2017 registration.
Last year, among the top 20 candidates who secured exceptionally well, two were female and three were non- engineers. It has been seen after a very long time that two female candidates managed to bag top positions in the top 20 candidates list. Topper Chavvi Khurana was an M-Tech graduate from IIT Delhi and had scored 254 marks out of 300. Out of 1,99,632 students, who have appeared for the exam, 78,009 were girls.
The IIM Calcutta hasn’t released any official date for the declaration of the CAT 2018 Results. However, if the past trends are to be followed then the candidates can expect the CAT 2018 to be announced in the second week of January 2019. This year, the CAT 2018 will be convened by IIM Calcutta. In 2017, IIM Lucknow conducted the examination. Last year, an official notification was released by the authorities in the month of July where it had stated that any graduate with minimum 50% (45% for reserved category) marks can apply for the CAT exam 2017. The CAT Exam was scheduled for November 26, 2017 and there was no change in the exam pattern and questions. Last year, the question paper was distributed into three sections which included Verbal Reasoning (34), Quantitative Ability (34) and Data Interpretation (32). The CAT syllabus is based upon the basics of 10+2 curriculum. So it is imperative to go through the NCERT books.
